'AsiaRate' Lawsuit against Harvard shows dirty little secret- white quotas used at elite universities

UPDATE: The recent "pay to play" admissions scandal where well-connected white folk made fraudulent applications, slipped bribes and did other shenanigans to get their kids into high-end universities highlights one of the reasons harder-working and smarter Asians are not getting the rewards they deserve. It also reinforces in part, the point below made about the privileged and the well-connected and the 15-30% admitted as "legacy" admissions in some elite institutions. The usual hypocritical suspects have taken to blaming "the liberals", but right-wingers do this kind of manipulation and influence buying all the time. A bunch of corporate fat cats are also under investigation. Maybe we should call this one "legacy cash" or legacy privilege?
But anyway...

A recent class-action lawsuit representing some 16,000 Asian students charges that Harvard University used a semi-secret "rating" system that pegged Asian students lower on desirable personality traits. Apparently those durn Asians were not sufficiently high on "likability", and "positive personality" among other things. These lower ratings decreased Asian chances at admission to the elite school. Less Asian admissions of course means more whites. Sweet! Even more interesting, an earlier internal review of its admissions conducted by Harvard found anti-Asian bias, but Harvard swept the findings under the rug and did not act on them. Note the graph below- at top braniac school CalTech, which goes strictly by merit, Asian enrollments rise steadily, but in the socially prestigious Ivy League universities, they keep dropping.

This lawsuit confirms the suspicions of many - that white people have been, and are using "informal" or hidden quotas and "caps" to keep out Asian competition, and at the same time, pushing blacks out front as scapegoats and propaganda diversions on long hollowed-out policies of "affirmative action." But the specific white quotas are only the tip of the iceberg. While lecturing about "merit," whites lock in further advantage by the widespread use of "legacy", "specialty" and "cash-connection" admissions- sons and daughters of white alumni, or those with enough cash connections, get special preferences- including a lower bar for admissions. Its another great way of keeping out those hard-working Asians who rely precisely on "merit" and not "likability" and "personality" to build up admission points.

A large population of white "victim card" players has arisen attributing many of their failures to alleged "quotas" and "affirmative action." Such faultless folk, deploying a web of denial, distortion and deception,  now find increasing representation in some of the young white population as we have seen previously, even though they well know that

• (a) Black gains on most fronts are not the products of "Affirmative action." For example most blacks had already pulled themselves above the poverty line prior to the AA quotas of the 1970s, and black expansion in higher education is a product of things like the GI Bill, and general federal aid to ALL students not "quotas." (Sowell 1981, 1983, 2004).
• (b) Remedial "quotas" came about first at the behest of white unions whose members were discriminated against because of union membership (Sowell 1975, op cit).They were not "invented for black people." In fact, white quotas, formal and informal, remained strongly in force well into the 1970s. It was after the civil rights victories of the mid and late 1960s that additional hard scrutiny began to be applied to white workforces, and an exasperated Nixon and his Secretary of Labor George Schulz, used that well established remedy because of white intransigence in allowing blacks fair job opportunities. Hence Nixon's "Philadelphia Plan"  had to strong-arm racist unions living well off federal contracts to comply with new civil rights laws and remedy biased practices (Yuli 2006. Richard Nixon and the Rise of Affirmative Action).
  General social histories of the era also note the same; wearied of their racism, and cynically prolonged negotiations, Schulz simply ordered the white dominated unions to enroll a certain number of blacks or face a cut-off of the federal gravy train. Local courts got in on the act as they forced open cosy white job protection rackets in police forces, fire departments, civil service agencies, hospitals, colleges, unions, construction firms etc.. • (c) "AA quotas" in education are primarily a phenomenon at elite or "flagship" colleges and universities (Sanders 2008. Mismatch), and even here, the black percentage has been hovering at around 5-6% of the last 30 years- and some of that percentage is in place without needing any "quotas." Similarly Black students going to dull boring State U generally do not need any "quotas" to gain admission. But banging the drum about 'quotas' gives an excellent excuse for white "victim card" slackers who cannot cut the mustard 
• (d) The primary beneficiary of "quotas" are white, specifically white women. (Sowell 1975, Rai et al 2000, Ore 2005, Pincus 2010, Fletcher and Crosby 2012, etc)

Said white victim card players however run into a propaganda "problem" when it comes to Asians, because: (a) Asians cannot be simply scapegoated like blacks, and (b) Asians clearly outperform whites on many counts. The "two-track" solution is to "blame the blacks" up front, and quietly undercut the Asians on the back end.

This reality is well detailed in books like Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Daniel Golden's The Price of Admissions, which shows that "Asian American students [are held] to a higher standard than whites; comply with Title IX by giving scholarships to rich women in “patrician sports” like horseback riding, squash, and crew; and repay congressmen for favors by admitting their children. He also reveals that Harvard maintains a “Z-list” for well-connected but underqualified students, who are quietly admitted on the condition that they wait a year to enroll."

In the meantime, a torrent of deceptive propaganda fills popular white culture about all the alleged blacks "swamping" white people out of university admissions due to "quotas." But while black admissions (IF using quotas) are less than 7% overall as far as top ranked or "prestige" campuses (where most of the 'affirmative action' battles are), Golden's data shows whites reaping up to 30% of special favor admissions.  The share of black freshmen at elite schools is virtually unchanged since 1980 according to a detailed NY times study drawing on data available from the National Center for Education Statistics. Black students are just 6 percent of freshmen but 15 percent of college-age Americans. Thus for almost 40 years, even after rising black school performances and numbers of students attending college, the percentage of blacks overall has barely budged despite hysterical "black plague" claims. Other data back this up, showing the percentage of blacks in the prestigious Ivy League to weigh in at a mere 7%, some of whom do not need quotas.

Such statistics wax and wane over different surveys but the average holds roughly the same- higher one year, lower the next, an important detail to remember when confronted by cherry-picked years held up as gospel by assorted propagandists. It should also be noted that gains in the number of first-year Black students at some universities may be due to overall increases in the size of the first-year class and not necessarily due to a higher percentage of Black first-year students. Thus a higher percent of incoming black students in Year X may simply be a reflection of a bigger pool of students overall being admitted in that year, not "quotas."

It should be noted too that the Asian "caps" are happening in "liberal" venues- from "progressive" California to Harvard and the Ivy League above. Some of this is candidly admitted by conservative businessmen and politicians such as Ron Unz, whose own research exhaustively documents anti-Asian discrimination. Unz's data brought about some howls of right wing protest for exposing the deceptive game, along with liberal denials or strategic silence. There is some question as to Unz's claims about excessive Jewish dominance, given that Jews are well represented on the "merit" track, over and above any legacy type admissions, nevertheless his work does provide a good insight on the falsehoods of assorted race baiters playing the "black menace" card. And according to a U.S. Office of Civil Rights Compliance Review, alumni/legacy children admitted to Harvard scored 35 points below the mean for all freshmen (Synnott 2010. "The Half-Opened Door"). What this means is that a large number of whites who would not make the cut under a normal regime of "merit," STILL gain admission, and those white performances are below some blacks who are admitted under preferences. Yet the scapegoats pushed out front to take the heat for "unfairness" are, again, the blacks.

Asian-Americans scored higher than applicants of any other racial or ethnic group on admissions measures like test scores, grades and extracurricular activities, according to the analysis commissioned by a group that opposes all race-based admissions criteria. But the students’ personal ratings significantly dragged down their chances of being admitted, the analysis found.

The court documents, filed in federal court in Boston, also showed that Harvard conducted an internal investigation into its admissions policies in 2013 and found a bias against Asian-American applicants. But Harvard never made the findings public or acted on them.

The documents came out as part of a lawsuit charging Harvard with systematically discriminating against Asian-Americans, in violation of civil rights law. The suit, brought by Students for Fair Admissions, says Harvard imposes what is in effect a soft quota of “racial balancing.” This keeps the number of Asian-Americans artificially low, while advancing less qualified white, black and Hispanic applicants, the plaintiffs contend.

“It turns out that the suspicions of Asian-American alumni, students and applicants were right all along,” Students for Fair Admissions said in a court document. “Harvard today engages in the same kind of discrimination and stereotyping that it used to justify quotas on Jewish applicants in the 1920s and 1930s.”

Harvard disagreed Friday, saying that its own expert analysis showed no discrimination and that seeking diversity is a valuable part of student selection. The university lashed out at the founder of Students for Fair Admissions, Edward Blum, accusing him of using Harvard to replay a previous challenge to affirmative action in college admissions, Fisher v. the University of Texas at Austin. The Supreme Court ruled that race could be used as one of many factors in admissions.

“Thorough and comprehensive analysis of the data and evidence makes clear that Harvard College does not discriminate against applicants from any group, including Asian-Americans, whose rate of admission has grown 29 per cent over the last decade,” Harvard said in a statement. “Mr. Blum and his organization’s incomplete and misleading data analysis paint a dangerously inaccurate picture of Harvard College’s whole-person admissions process by omitting critical data and information factors.”

The lawsuit also confirms what has long been argued on this blog- QUOTE:

A hard look at the patterns above helps explain the mystery of why white universities would SEEMINGLY "hurt" white student admissions with so-called "quotas for blacks" and other non-Asian minorities. Assorted "HBD" types explain it all as evil "liberal do-goodism" and "white guilt" or "self-hate." But a true "race realist" understands the REAL white game. 

While knee-jerk head count admissions may have begun as a "response" to ghetto unrest and activism in the 1960/ 1970s, those times are long gone, and in any event were closely controlled and limited. White people today are not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. The so-called "quotas for blacks" are a smokescreen whites may be using to LIMIT ASIAN NUMBERS, via admission formulas that allow whites to gain slots on things other than strict test scores.

For example, lets say you get extra points for "community service" or "civic engagement." While all those Asian kids are grinding away and going to cram schools solely for the best test score number, the extra points given for "civic engagement" will favor whites, who typically, on the average, can show more of such extracurricular activity. These extra point can tip an admission slot towards a more "well rounded" white candidate, beating out the Asian with a higher number. "Community service" might be only one such "tipping" factor. There are other factors that weigh in college admissions- including Essay writing, Teacher recommendation, Counselor recommendation, Class rank, Portfolio, Extracurricular activities, Work and so on. These factors have helped SOME black candidates build up enough points for admission, but they ALSO work in favor of whites to cut back on Asian slots. 

Think about it. Why would white people be so incredibly generous as to hurt their own via this wave of "black quotas" alleged by assorted right wingers? They aren't- for 3 reasons:

1) The number of black students admitted under quotas is small and AA quotas have been carefully controlled and limited since the 1970s eg. Bakke. As noted in earlier posts, there is no vast horde of blacks on campus due to "quotas" and quotas are primarily operative on high-end campuses with very few minorities. (Gurin et al 2003. How does Racial/Ethnic Diversity Promote Education? WJBS. 27:1) found that affirmative action exists primarily in highly selective colleges that barely have more than 8-10% black students. Such campuses are not where the vast majority, the OTHER 90-92% of black students attend. The famous Hopwood decision of the late 1990s showed that in 1996-97- right before the AA ban by the court, Black enrollments weighed in at an allegedly "massive" 4.7%, of the total enrollment at the elite Texas Law school- hardly the huge wave "swamping white people" assorted propagandists would have us to believe.  And keep in mind that not all blacks admitted to these schools needed quotas. In short, as far as college education overall, affirmative action is a minor player for blacks. As far as teachers, affirmative action has been a rather small player there too:

"The catastrophic scenarios conjured by the neo-conservatives and the [Jewish] agencies never came to pass. In fact between 1968 and 1973, blacks' share of total university faculty jobs grew from 2.2 to 2.9 percent; with historically black colleges and universities removed from the calculations, blacks made up only 0.9 percent of the professoriate. Over the next twenty years, black representation among full-time faculty members grew only .05 percent."

2) Admission "point" systems allegedly "helping only" blacks are MORE helping whites, by enabling them to bypass and squeeze ahead of Asians who may post better raw numbers. Unz's analysis suggests that certain elite institutions can manipulate a variety of factors, not because of "guilt" or "self-hate" but to help whites edge out the Asian competition- you know- via that prototypical "well rounded" candidate. Translation: less "narrow" Asian grinders on campus. A similar pattern operated to screen out Jews in years past. This landscape means that it is whites themselves, for their own agendas, who have a vested interest in preserving the "special preferences" blacks are so often bashed about. Asians threaten white preferences and privilege, hence some whites embrace the same "quotas" they rail against where blacks are concerned. They just don't want it to be too openly seen, hence profitable diversions are welcome. As one scholar notes:

"Ironically, Theodore Cross and Robert Bruce Slater, among others, have contended that 'the tremendous success of Asian students on standardized tests may save affirmative action programs for blacks at the most selective institutions,' including Harvard, because 'a strict merit-based admissions system would pose a particularly serious threat to the sacrosanct system of legacy admissions.' According to a U.S. Office of Civil Rights Compliance Review, alumni/ae children admitted to Harvard scored 35 points below the mean for all freshmen.. The controversy over racial preferences involved only the most competitive 20 percent of colleges and universities, where the number of applicants far exceeded he number of available places, since the overwhelming majority of institutions are not selective. Most whites denied admissions were rejected in favor of other white applicants, not in favor of the comparatively small number of minorities admitted."

3) Blacks can be used as front-men and scapegoats for the above- taking the heat from assorted bigots, bashers and baiters. In the meantime, behind the scenes, the admission structures are manipulated to hinder or slow down the real competition- Asians. The "Fisher" affirmative action case illustrates the point. On her own merits white student Fisher failed to qualify for admission to the University of Texas. Her grades, test scores and class ranking did not make the cut. Indeed as a Pro Publica report notes: "In the hundreds of pages of legal filings, Fisher's lawyers spend almost no time arguing that Fisher would have gotten into the university but for her race." But a vast propaganda campaign arose to make her the poster child victim of "the culluds." It was a sure propaganda winner- sweet white female unjustly denied her chance in life by "quotas for blacks." Fisher was denied admission but there were 47 students with  lower test scores/grades that did get in based on test scores/grades and personal achievement (community service, leadership, essays etc). Of the 47 students who did get in ahead of Fisher, 42 were white, and 5 were black or Hispanic. But almost no mention was made of the 42 white students in Fishers' court filings, or most media reports. The propaganda machines seized on the minor number of blacks/hispanics  to gin up a  narrative of noble struggle against evil. Fisher could still have gained entrance by going to another college and then transferring after 1-2 years, but the propaganda gift was just too good for conservative public sphere intellectuals or media operatives to pass up. It is a gift that still keeps giving over a decade later.

Books such as Affirmative Action for the Rich: Legacy Preferences in College Admissions and Color and Money by Schmidt 2007, detail many facts about the "special" preferential admissions used by whites, including those of the not-so-popular sports. 

Assorted hereditarians continually express amazement and puzzlement at why whites are allegedly "hurting" themselves with so-called "giveways to blacks." It makes for a great propaganda narrative- an enemy "Other "to focus anger on- red meat for "the faithful" to fulminate against "the liberals" and "self-hate." But that narrative is for the gullible. As Synnott 2010 below shows- for whites the real competition is Asians, and "Affirmative action" helps cut back on Asians in favor of white alumni/legacy admits. These legacy admits generally perform below regular admittees. If strict merit was used for admissions, many more white people would never make it, and more slots would be taken up by Asians.

Blacks serve as diversionary flak-catchers and smokescreens. They can also be used to demonstrate white goodwill and progressivism- hey- see we got things locked up here in favor of our own white people, but see, we are generous enough to give the culluds a few scraps.. heh.. heh.. focus on that, while we concentrate on the real action- keeping out those Asians.. Its a cynical , and successful propaganda formula- embraced by liberals (who can show how progressive they are) and conservatives (who can whip up "the base"  against "the culluds" for "taking our slots").  Sweet!

Of course its not only the gullible in the mix. Also there are cynical propagandists who know the real facts, but keep churning out distortions and "fake news" to screen the real deal- white profit and benefit. It is like the massive amounts of new government spending that went to schools during the desegregation era. Most of it was pocketed by white school regimes that quickly fired hundreds of black teachers and tore down numerous once thriving black schools - end result: more cash, more facilities and more jobs for mostly white people as the federal largesse flowed.  When the full picture is examined, and the easy propaganda narratives broken down, are white people really "hurting" themselves or helping themselves?

Some gays find welcome home in the 'alt-right' as nationalist organizations step up recruitment

The "alt-right" is sometimes conceived of as racist, sexist and homophobic, but the last category is being blurred quite a bit. Per several analyses, there is a fair amount of evidence that gays are being increasingly represented in "alt-right", and indeed, "alt-right" leaders and operatives may be using shrewd tactics- sex and camp (a species of flamboyance) - to attract young gay males. Is it simply another Fascism variant or the constant that the dread negro cometh?
SLATE.com for example, describes vocal gay commenters and contributors in the Occidental Observer, "one of the most prominent white nationalist web publications," as invoking the standard bogeyman of "the Negro." Cue ominous musics.. But, says another prominent commenter, behind the dread Negro is the sinister Jew. Hmm...

SLATE gives some other examples- QUOTE:

"In his book The Homo and the Negro, O'Meara says that gay white men represent the best of what Western culture has to offer because of their "intelligence" and "beauty," and that "Negroes" represent the worst, being incapable of "achievement." Donovan calls women "whores" and "bitches," and, when a questioner on Reddit asked him his views of the Holocaust, responded, "What is this Holocaust thing? I'm drawing a blank."

Gay men have been influenced by two white nationalist ideas: the "threat" posed by Islam and the "danger" posed by immigrants.

Both have become influential figures in the alt-right; horribly, they are not the only gay men to respond to an olive branch lately offered by white nationalism. The opening of this movement to cisgender gay men is a radical change, "one of the biggest changes I've seen on the right in 40 years," says Chip Berlet, co-author of Right-Wing Populism in America. In the United States, unlike in Europe, out gay men have never been welcome in white supremacist groups. The Klan and neo-Nazi groups, the main previous incarnations of white hate in this country, were and still are violently anti-queer. And while a subset of openly gay men has always been conservative (or, as in all populations, casually racist), they never sought to join the racist right.

That was before groups like NPI, Counter-Currents Publishing, and American Renaissance started putting out the welcome mat. Since around 2010, some (though by no means all) groups in the leadership of the white nationalist movement have been inviting out cis gay men to speak at their conferences, write for their magazines, and be interviewed in their journals. Donovan and O'Meara, far to the right of disgraced provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, are the white nationalist movement's actual queer stars. But there are others in the ranks, like Douglas Pearce of the popular neofolk band Death in June. And there are many more gay men (and some trans women) who have been profoundly influenced by two white nationalist ideas: the "threat" posed by Islam and the "danger" posed by immigrants.

Donovan tries to sugarcoat his own racist beliefs when speaking to his main fan base, gay men who like his macho looks and straight men from the "pickup artist" culture and the manosphere who are desperately trying to learn from him how to be manly. Instead, reverting to the other half of the Nazi playbook, he prefers to highlight his hatred for "effeminacy," feminism, and "weakness." A beautifully muscular man of 42 who has perfected a masculine scowl in the many photographs of himself he releases on his website and Facebook page, he functions as beefcake for the neofascist cause. He's parlayed his butch allure into a brand, earning money from a line of T-shirts and wrist guards that say things like BARBARIAN and a series of books that seek to instruct both straight and gay men in how to become more masculine and in particular, more "violent."

One of my Facebook friends, a politically liberal gay man I'll call Frank, is a fan of Donovan's Facebook page "because of the visuals. I like his looks-I mean, he's bald with tattoos. He really exudes a lot of sex." Frank also likes that Donovan "trashes that whole gay club scene," which Frank finds conformist and alienating.

But when Donovan says violence, he means violence. This is not BDSM. "The ability to use violence effectively is the highest value of masters," Donovan said in a 2017 speech at a fascist think tank in Germany. "It is the primary value of those who create order, who create worlds. Violence is a golden value. Violence rules. Violence is not evil-it is elemental." Though Donovan tries to mine the latent sexiness in violence for all it's worth, he is, in fact, against consensual BDSM, condemning it in a 2010 essay as part of a long list of evils that he feels has been perpetuated by gay culture: the "extreme promiscuity, sadomasochism, transvestism, transsexuality, and flamboyant effeminacy" promoted by "the pink-haired, punk rock stepchildren of feminism," gay activists. No, it's straight-up people hurting and killing other people he's endorsing.

And what is all this violence for? Creating small, decentralized "homelands" in this country separated by-surprise!-race. He enthusiastically embraces an idea the alt-right calls "pan-secessionism," under which, as Donovan says in his book A Sky Without Eagles, "gangs" of white men would form "autonomous zones" for themselves and white women, where women "would not be permitted to rule or take part in … political life." The gangs would enforce racial boundary lines, because, as Donovan puts it, whites have "radically different values [and] cultures" than other people, and "loyalty requires preference. It requires discrimination."

Sho nuff. The racist Donovan at least can be appreciated for his honesty- no mealy-mouthed code words, obfuscations and dog whistle narratives- but straight up racism, and proudly gay. Excellent. It is good to know who you are dealing with, as Malcolm X often said.  No doubt the execrations of Jim Crow were "necessary"- just as various "alt" rightists argue that Jewish liquidation was "understandable," given Jewish "parasitism" an socio-political aggression on the host body of societies, among other things.

The reader of course, would notice that among the most prominent faces of the movement, is the virulently anti-female and anti-feminist Milo Yiannopoulos, out of public favor now due to various scandals, but still widely referenced in the community, and hailed for his classic agent provocateur work. Milo is old news now, but a number of gays, some not as extreme as Donovan, have arisen to continue some variant of his basic methods and spiels.

Another interesting thing from the above SLATE piece is who laid out the welcome mat to gay participation - it is "establishment" racialists, hereditarians and right-wingers, like American Renaissance, and indeed, in extension, as SLATE notes:"since around 2010, some (though by no means all) groups in the leadership of the white nationalist movement have been inviting out cis gay men to speak at their conferences, write for their magazines, and be interviewed in their journals."

Is it immigrants, or the dread negro? SLATE also holds that:
"Gay men have been influenced by two white nationalist ideas: the "threat" posed by Islam and the "danger" posed by immigrants."

This may be so, but only in part. The other huge part, which Slate does not go into much, is the strong streak of racism already present in some segments of the gay community. Part of this is generalized white racism that appears in people who happen to be gay, but a significant slice of the problem may originate in gay culture itself some claim, whether it be latent psychological fear of domination/penetration by the "monstrous negro" (a la the analyses of Franz Fanon- see Han 2007 below) or the beauty standards of gay culture which give short shrift to those that don't meet the white ideal. The well buttressed article by Han (2007), lays out the case in detail:

In this paper, I discuss both the subtle and the blatant forms of racial exclusion practised in the 'gay' community as well as the homophobia found in racial and ethnic communities to examine how such practices affect gay men of color, particularly their self-esteem and their emotional well-being."

Among other things Han discusses the outright discrimination against gay men of color in bars, baths, nightclubs and other social meeting places (some of it violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964). Then there is the matter of painful personal rejection dealt out to many gays of color on top of the discrimination. Sometimes the bias is subtle. A gay black man for example might be asked for 3 or 4 forms of ID before being allowed to enter a predominantly white gay club, but if you are white, no such extra "screening" is done. The subtle aim of course is to discourage the presence of "cullud" gays, in white spaces. Now where have we seen such tactics befo' pilgrim? Says Han:

Gays of color as invisible or fetish objects for white consumption- QUOTE:

"Even the most perfunctory glance through gay publications exposes the paucity of non-white gay images. It’s almost as if no gay men of color exist outside of fantasy cruises to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, or the ‘Orient’. And even then, they exist only to fulfill the sexual fantasies of gay white men. ‘Exotic’ vacations to far away places are marketed to rich white men and poor colored bodies are only another consumable product easily purchased with western dollars. As such, gay men of color, whether found within western borders or conveniently waiting for white arrival in the far off corners of the globe, are nothing more than commodities for consumption.

To do so, gay activists adapted various whitening practices to sell gay America to the heartland of America by: mirroring the whiteness of men who run powerful institutions as a strategy for winning credibility, acceptance, and integration; excluding people of color from gay institutions; selling gay as white to raise money, make a profit, and gain economic power; and daily wearing the pale protective coloring that camouflages the Social Identities 53 Downloaded by [Linnaeus University] at 00:53 10 October 2014 unquestioned assumptions and unearned privileges of gay whiteness. (Be´rube´, 2001, p. 246)

Gay businesses, too, mark these borders. Bars populated by non-white clients exist merely to support white male fantasies about gay men of color are marked with appropriately fetishized names such as the Voodoo Lounge in Seattle, Papicock in New York, and Red Dragon in Los Angeles. The Blatino Bronx Factory not only marks the club as raced but also quite blatantly specifies which races they are marking. Yet gay-identified organizations with mostly, and sometimes exclusively, white clientele*both businesses and NPOs*are never marked in this way. In fact, they vehemently oppose such characterizations, arguing instead that they serve all gay people. It is never the ‘Gay White Support/Social Organization’, but rather, ‘Gay Support/Social Organization’. In doing so, the implication is that they speak for all gay people, a claim they make while ignoring certain voices. Their concerns, those of largely gay white men, become the de facto concerns for gay men of color. As such, whiteness takes center stage and it becomes synonymous with gay where gay comes to mean white and white comes to mean gay.

Explicit racial bias in public accommodations and equal treatment of business patrons- QUOTE:

"Sometimes racism in the gay community takes on more explicit forms. Like racism everywhere, these forms tend to operate with the goal of excluding, in this case, men of color from gay institutions. Perhaps the most notorious has been the events surrounding Badlands, a popular bar in the Castro district in San Francisco. In the summer of 2004, Badlands became the site of weekly picketing after a group of racially diverse Bay Area residents filed a complaint with the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, the San Francisco Entertainment Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department claming racial discrimination at the bar. Among the complaints were that not only was the owner practising job discrimination at the bar but also that non-white customers were being either turned away at the door or were being expunged from the bar. According to complainants, people of color were routinely denied employment and promotional opportunities and entrance into the establishment. Most obvious incidents were the fact that black men were required to provide two forms of I.D. at the door while white men were required to only show one... "

Invisibility of gays of color (Han 2007- QUOTE:)

"Not surprisingly, allusions to invisibility are common in the writings and media productions created by gay men of color. For example, in Tongues untied, black film maker Marlon Riggs had this to say about San Francisco:

I pretended not to notice the absence of black images in this new gay life, in bookstores, poster shops, film festivals, even my own fantasies. Something in Oz was amiss, but I tried not to notice. I was intent on my search for my reflection, love, affirmation, in eyes of blue, gray, green. Searching, I discovered something I didn’t expect, something decades of determined assimilation cannot blind me to. In this great, gay Mecca, I was an invisible man. I had no shadow, no substance, no place, no history, no reflection. (Riggs, 1989)

Likewise, Joseph Beam (1986) in his work, In the Life wrote:
Visibility is survival . . . It is possible to read thoroughly two or three consecutive issues of the Advocate, the national biweekly gay newsmagazine, and never encounter, in the words or images, Black gay men . . . We ain’t family. Very clearly, gay male means: White, middle-class, youthful, nautilized, and probably butch, there is no room for Black gay men within the confines of this gay pentagon. (quoted in Manalansan, 1996, p. 402)

The other part of the embed, is a long-standing hostility to Christianity in some segments of gay culture, since Christianity calls numerous parts of that culture into question. As the book on the "alt-right" "Kill All Normies" details, the attack-smear-troll culture of said "alt-right" has little respect for Christianity or soft Christian values, something some churches in their focus on happy-clappy, no offence, prosperity-preaching, reinvention-of-me "ministries" seem to not want to address in any detail. And why bother with foundational values anymore? Several churches have already accommodated themselves to the new realities, and gay priest, prophet and preacher alike stride prayerfully (and moderately) into the brave new world, with its "autonomous zones".

The transgressive-subversive sensibility- no stranger to either gay culture or the alt-right. 
As one author notes:

"Paglia argued that de Sade's devaluing of the procreative female body, and his preoccupation with heterosexual and homosexual sodomy, also shared by chan culture, were not merely the product of a homosexual impulse, as argued by feminist Simone de Beauvoir, but a 'protest against relentlessly overabundant procreative nature'. .. That the transgressive values of de Sade could be taken up by a culture of misogyny and characterized an online anti-feminist movement that rejected traditional church-going conservatism should also not be a surprise. The Blakean motto adopted by the Surrealists, 'Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires', dominance as sexual 'sovereignty' and the freeing of the id from the constraints of the conscience have all descended from this transgressive tradition.

Just as Nietzsche appealed to the Nazis as a way to formulate a right-wing anti-moralism, it is precisely the transgressive sensibility that is used to excuse and rationalize the utter dehumanization of women and ethnic minorities in the alt-right online sphere now. The culture of transgression they have produced liberates their conscience from having to take seriously the potential human cost of breaking the taboo against racial politics that has held since WWII.  The Sadean transgressive element of the 60s, condemned by conservatives for decades as the very heart of the destruction of civilization, the degenerate and the nihilistic, is not being challenged by the emergence of this new online right. Instead, the emergence of this new online right is the full coming to fruition of the transgressive anti-moral style,."--Angela Nagle- Kill All Normies, pg 53-54

New opportunities in today's youth culture

Some find the above developments shocking but it could be argued that it is unrealistic to expect some folk who happen to be gay to not grasp new opportunities in today's dynamic web-driven culture, particularly among web-attuned youth. After all, Gay-Lesbian-Transgender clubs on high school campuses can use fellow teens to tap into that youth culture to promote recruitment and education much more effectively than old style lectures by a previous generation. Likewise the dynamic surge of the gamer and trolling culture has struck a chord with many alienated young males, easily susceptible to the right propaganda package, and opening up new recruitment opportunities. Given these trends, there are some who see gays as adding value to the "alt-right" movement, particularly given their "taboo-busting" style and sensibility. They can say racist, sexist and anti-religious things the "squares" are hesitant to say in public, an ability enhanced by the anonymous trolling opportunities of the Internet. Says one "alt-right" media leader- Quote:

"I think gays can be particularly useful to the alt-right," Alternative Right editor Colin Liddell told me. "Our movement is a revolutionary and taboo-busting movement, and gays have the right 'psychological equipment' for that. And, because of their lack of immediate family, gays often have a stronger feeling for their 'wider family.' The left has successfully displaced this sentiment to the fake 'gay community' or to leftist causes in general, but the true wider family for gays is their particular tribal or ethnic group."

Dangerous Minds.. deep philosophies.. redux..

The impatient new generation

Is it immigration or other things? It is not merely a question of immigration and Islam. This racist streak is deeply embedded in some parts of gay culture, or among a significant number of gays. This does not mean gays are "more racist" than other people, far from it,  just that there is enough fertile ground for the alt-right to draw from, when the total picture is examined.

Why does the new  generation need to genuflect to the old verities?
Likewise the classic pattern of gays tending to support more liberal causes no longer holds true in the age of "alt" rightism. When gays needed strong civils rights support and frameworks this pattern held. But while work remains to be done, recent victories as far as same-sex marriage and growing societal acceptance in everything from schools to corporate leave policies means that a younger generation no longer sees the same need for progressivism. Indeed they may find such old school concerns positively boring, and less than compelling in today's free-for-all, sex obsessed online trolling culture. The new gay generation may indeed yawn at issues like same-sex marriage. Get excited over what? The old ball-and-chair in newer, more fabulous clothing? In some areas a majority of gays even support right-wing candidates that, on the surface, are not friendly to classical gay causes. As Salon notes:

"In Holland, France, Germany, and Sweden, white nationalists have deliberately used LGBTQ people and Muslims as a wedge against one another. Polls show that over one third of French gay men supported Le Pen in the recent election despite her promise to end same-sex marriage, and in Germany, the far-right AfD recently tapped an out lesbian banker to run for chancellor.

"The AfD is even more hostile to actual pro-gay policies than France's National Front is.) Sweden's fascist party organized an LGBTQ pride parade through Muslim neighborhoods, and of course, in Holland, Pim Fortuyn and later Geert Wilders tried to make "Islam" synonymous with "hatred of gays." Their ultimate goal was to make hatred of immigrants "progressive."
Bringing queer people in, in both Europe and America, is a way to grow the neo-fascist movement. It is also a way to court millennials, who are consistently supportive of gay rights even when they swing conservative on other issues. It's a testament to the fact that, in some ways, the queer movement has already won the battle for public opinion. The far right could not beat us, so they decided to join us—in the most superficial way possible. Ultimately, it's a form of pinkwashing, which YourDictionary defines as “the practice of representing something … as gay-friendly in order to soften or downplay aspects of its reputation considered negative.” How could Le Pen, or Wilders, or other open racists be so bad when they like queer people?

There is another potential benefit: If white supremacists can equate "Muslims" with attacks on LGBTQ people—and women—they might be able to attract liberals and moderates into a kind of anti-immigrant "big tent." This would complement their effort to portray racism as “pro-worker.” 

The "Muslim menace" also has other benefits- the inevitable racial tie-in. One of the most uncompromising opponents of racism and certain gay issues is of course the Black Muslim leader Louis Farrakhan- though the aging helmsman will likely vanish from the scene in a few years. By playing on "menacing Muslims," the old racial bogeyman can be put into play yet again- a gift that just keeps on giving. There are short-term recruitment benefits to be gained from this angle. But Farrakhan, like his predecessor Elijah Muhammed always under government surveillance, was always careful to keep his organization on a tight leash, whatever his fiery pronouncements. And while no friend of the gay lifestyle, he did not make demonization of gays a major part of his program, rather in general, seeing black gays as unfortunate victims of white exploitation and degeneracy.

Even more uncompromising and less restrained than Farrakhan however, was the now deceased, hardline black nationalist Kahlid Muhammed, of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) , whom even Farrakhan banished from his organization. The post Muhammed NBPP ironically, while still suspicious, is somewhat more accepting of gays, if only as a recognition of today's realities, and are willing to enter into tactical coalitions with them depending on the issue. But even they, while still visible, have been generally marginalized in the media, and among some blacks turned off by its portrayed anti-Semitic or "incendiary" rhetoric. However the continued growth of the gay and non-gay "alt-right," many of whom as noted above speak of violence, and who troll vicious 24/7 anti-black smears and propaganda across the web, has made many blacks feel under siege. This provides an inevitable incentive for said blacks to take another look at alternatives like the NBPP, or more radical than the NBPP, as a self-defense, counter-mobilization , "push-back" response. As can be imagined, the potential for racial discord is more than heightened if these trends start gather steam. Continual racial bile, turmoil and discord of course is one objectives of the "alt-right." The "muslim menace" provides a two-fer towards this end. Ironically, some polls show that today's Muslims in America are LESS opposed to gays than such primary white Evangelicals or Mormons  (Pew Research 2015).

Alt-right leaders use these trends to ramp up fear tactics as well as "big tent," popular front recruitment opportunities. For example, despite his opposition to same-sex marriage, Spencer barred people with anti-gay views from the National Policy Institute's annual conference in 2015, and as already noted above, American Renaissance and other racialist fixtures have followed suit, downplaying certain things in order to build the racialist networks. Given this background or racism in some places, the transition of SOME gays to "alt right" activism was/is a natural fit. One can readily see the fertile ground just waiting for the right combination of money, personalities and vehicles- like the always on, 24/7, anonymous attack, smear and insult trolling culture of many parts of the web. The question might be not that so many gays are now on board, but rather what took the pattern so long to manifest itself in a definite public way.

Just to make it clear. This post makes no claim that a massive segment of the gay population is joining the "alt-right," nor is any claim made that contradicts the basic gay socio-political pattern of more general support for liberal/progressive causes, and a relatively more favorable record towards civil rights etc, especially since such supports aids gay civil rights and acceptance. This is much more than in most "alt" communities, where some individuals troll anti-gay material. And no there is no mass migration of gays to the old white nationalist and Ku Kluxer battle lines. Rather, the central point is the clear representation of a growing and significant number of gays in the "alt-right" and the active courting of them by some leaders of that movement.

And again to be clear, it should be definitely pointed out that some gay organizations recognize some of these problems on race, and are actively working to overcome them and raise awareness, like the "And Castro For All" group which arose in response to widespread instances of racial discrimination against gay men of color, both by individual white gays and in many venues of San Francisco's famous gay-friendly Castro District. More power to them for fighting unfairness and injustice. They have some heavy lifting to do.




Now for five last questions or issues:

1) Could envy of Jewish prosperity be part of the mix in the alt-right transition? It should be the opposite in theory - after all, Jews have been favorable towards liberalism and gay rights, including heavy gay marriage support, and are relatively well educated, like gays, on AVERAGE. And given the anti-gay critique, and anti-Jewish antipathy in many Islamic quarters, shouldn't gays and Jews (and yes some Jews are gay) be natural allies?  So it would seem, but there is a logical argument to be made for the increasing movement of young males and gay males towards the lure of the alt-right. Given the well documented pattern of male decline or perceived decline and female advance, (see book above), disaffected white males see the relative prosperity and favorable socio-economic position of Jews -who contrary to the general trend, appear to be moving ahead, not falling behind. Thus philosophies such as that of Professor Kevin Macdonald, an academic lionized and embraced by the "alt-right" calling for heavy taxation on Jews and restrictions on their occupations, are increasingly attractive, particularly if said Jews can be portrayed as part of the effete "liberal elite."


2) Why the RELATIVE Trump administration silence when it comes to various controversies that can be taken as anti-gay? Aside from some kerfluffles over a limited issue, such as the transgender soldier matter, the Trump regime seems to have gone out of its way to keep gays sweet, unlike the sometimes gratuitous public controversies and baiting involving blacks, which seem so much to pump up "the base." Indeed, Trump alone among Republican candidates has waved Rainbow flags around on stage, pledges to protect LGBT folk from hateful ideologies, endorses transgender Caitlyn Jenner's use of restrooms on his properties, has received the backing of prominent gays like Peter Thiel, and refuses to expend much political capital on, or call for, rollbacks to gay marriage.

New Supreme Court appointee Brett Kavanaugh and his supporters were muted as far as any talk about "rollback" to gay marriage. There seems to be a quiet white consensus, both on the left and the right, to not stir up the issue too much. In general, white America does not seem to make as much fuss about gay marriage involving mostly white people, compared to the feelings (oft hidden) generated by heterosexual black-white IR unions or hookups, relatively speaking. After all, as many conservatives softly aver, same-sex unions are now "the law of the land," and in Caifornia's famous Prop 8 vote in 2008, a slim majority of white voters opposed  a gay marriage ban, while most blacks supported it. The religious right too while still concerned about the issue is not as vocal as it once was, and having hitched its wagon to Trumpism, has nowhere else to go. Its leaders must play along with the new order.

OK, you say, but since a majority of gays voted for Hilary aren't they ripe for similar baiting like blacks? Why hasn't it happened to the same extent? Could it be a matter of bait tactics being deployed where they would be most profitable in ginning up "the base" - which of course means heavy on the black bait Bubba, while going easy on a gay-tinged "silent supporter" base segment?
Kid gloves for gays, the backhand for blacks, so to speak?


3) Could sexual frustration and feelings of inadequacy on the part of some white males play a part fueling the move towards the 'alt-right'? The "alt-right" sphere is rife with feelings of sexual frustration and inadequacy, as its lust-filled denizens lament their inability to get the female they think they "deserve." These felt inadequacies often play out in the snarling resentment towards females, and enhance both the gay line and the alt line. As Angela Nagle in the book Kill All Normies" explains:

"One of the dominant and consistent preoccupations running through the forum culture of the manosphere is the idea of beta and alpha males. They discuss how women prefer alpha males and either cynically use or completely ignore beta males, by which they mean low-ranking males in the stark and vicious social hierarchy through which they interpret all human interaction. Some follow the pickup artistry of bloggers like Roosh V in order to rise from a ‘nice guy’ beta to a sexually successful alpha. Roosh (aka Daryush Valizadeh) began as a pickup artist, later self-described as a neo-masculinist and flirted with the hard alt-right, who he would have found common ground with in their shared belief that feminism is a major cause of civilizational decline. He positively reviewed alt-right writer Kevin MacDonald’s The Culture of Critiques and titled it, ‘The Damaging Effects Of Jewish Intellectualism And Activism On Western Culture’ pg 115-117

The gay part of the frustration equation strips away much of the time-consuming courting rituals and kowtowing that seems to give women so much perceived power, and frees the young white male to satisfy his lust for flesh relatively quickly and cheaply (voluntary participants in a promiscuous gay club are much cheaper than prostitutes for example) if a warm body is desired. And while despising female power, at the same time the beauty and attractiveness of the female must be appropriated by some males to recreate the desires perceived as denied to them in real life. Thus some take on "female" roles to carry this lust forward. The same appropriation of female beauty and attractiveness manifests itself in some aspects of the "transgender" equation. Felt inadequacy is also a product of the relative success of women in school and the workplace, and the decline of men in these venues, partly though their own lack of effort in competing with women.

The "alt-right" part of the equation, enables a powerless white lamer in real life, to be a giant in the virtual world, terrorizing and shocking resented females and "normies" and fulfilling an otherwise limited moral existence with a noble mission in company with similar comrades- to be guardian and protector of white civilization itself. Ironically, the very behavior of many "defenders of white civ" seems rather to undermine many aspects - from their deep dependence on and obsession with pornography, constant disparagement of women, and continual mocking of "weakling" family values, brotherhood, do-unto-others-as-yourself kindness, fair treatment and justice and so on, espoused by many  Christians. All such is for "the weak." As the discerning reader will note- their "defense of civ"  approach has a familiar 1930s and 40s echo to it..

And there is a neat racial tie-in both ways. The latent fear (or fantasy) of monstrous negro penetration lurks in the dark background, related the persistence of the bestial negro or "black thug" stock figures exploited in manufactured fantasy, and today's relentless pornography. With this one can add the fear and envy of negro sexual prowess and perceived "cool" (such as among athletes and musicians) on the front end. On another level, one can throw in personal repugnance against an "other" that does not meet white ideals of beauty -see black lesbian complaints of being devalued, discounted or ignored even as far as service in public establishments- here for example. Stir the toxic stew, and the path of racial antipathy is wide open, and easy to take for those white gays and lesbians moving to the "alt side." The alt-right transition combines all these strands, some contradictory, and gives plenty of scope to attack the resented/envied/feared/scorned Black Other. Again the above is dealing with SOME POSSIBLE items in the mix for the shift towards the alt-right. It offers no grand explanation of the motivations and activities of all individuals.


4) Can the misogyny of many on the alt-right serve as an effective two-way recruiting tool- (a) into the alt-right, and (b) into the gay lifestyle at the same time?  First, the misogyny of many in the alt-right is well documented and might have practical benefits across the board. It can help recruit gays into the alt-right, and indeed the alt-right's one-time most famous spokesman, Milo Yiannopoulos heaps scorn on women, and of course, is himself gay. Add in the others mentioned in the Slate article, and this might be a powerful draw, just as the anti-female angle draws other young white males into the movement who are not as yet gay.

Second, as the misogyny machine grinds on, new queer recruitment avenues open up, as packs of resentful young white males, unable to get the female objects of their desire, are invited to become that lust: the disguises vary - transgenderism, transvestitism, or "switch" role-playing, where they can both be the feminine object, or the masculine dominator of that object. The relentless presence of pornography meshes with the grist of the misogynist mills, and helps along the process, possibly luring more and  more young white males to move to, or tentatively "experiment" on the slippery slope of the queer side.  And none of the above need be a binary homosexual versus non homosexual model. The "transition" process is more effective if it works undercover, in different guises, along a continuum of obfuscation and corruption. Sounds like a favorable environment in many ways eh?


5) Finally in the hoped for gay white nationalist "autonomous zones" nirvana above, white women would seem to be second-class citizens with very little power, except as fulfilling the roles they are ordered to take. It seems though, that the designers of this affluent racial paradise forgot about gay women, who I don't think will be content with being mere "Aryan" handmaids, like the idealized passive "Frau" of the Third Reich, minus the breeding responsibilities.. Since they cannot be expected (at least in theory) to be strength-through-joy breeding machines, what's in it for white gay women, or gay white feminists except the initial racial bashing/black devaluation angle as they stand by their righteously racist "alt-right" man? Also will there be a place for the "effete" elements in the "new order"- those "pink-haired, punk rock stepchildren of feminism" per above?
